Repositories of OERs
These resources are for finding OERs that are smaller and more granular than open textbooks and open courses. There are audiovideo, interactive, text, and more. Please check the licensing on each individual object, because many repositories mix open content with content that is merely free!
- Chem Collective - Online Resources for Teaching and Learning ChemistryCarnegie Melon. OER about chemistry concepts and lab skills, including an HTML5 virtual lab.
- Roy Rozenzweig Center for History and New Media - World History SourcesMultimedia modules on history research methodology.
- COOL4Ed (California Open Online Library for Education)Open Textbooks, Open Courses, and other kinds of OERs. Also links to Open Access journals (which are not OER, but are free to access.)
- IluminaUniversity of North Carolina Wilmington with support from a grant from the National Science Foundation. STEM learning materials that are "copyright free for non-commercial use." They are not CC licensed, and may not be remixable. Some are not accessible.
- The Learning Exchangepart of the UK Digital Library of Social Science
- FSI Language Courses from the US State DepartmentPublic domain language learning ebooks and multimedia produced by the US State Department and Department of Defense. (The Peace Corps content is free, but not public domain!!)
- MERLOT IIA platform for creating, editing, and sharing Open Educational Resources on all topics, for all grade levels, and also for rating, reviewing, modifying, and using the OERs created by others. You can sign up to be a peer reviewer, and some of the OERs are formally peer reviewed.
K-16. - NanoHUBCourses, simulations, models, tools, exercises, lectures, and assessments on nanoscience. Some are OER, others are only free.
- National Science Digital LibraryOpen Educational Resources - Creative Commons licensed teaching and learning resources for all levels of science, technology, engineering, & math education. From the OER Commons.
- OER AfricaHuge collection of OER produced by faculty at African colleges and universities, on all topics. Particularly strong in health sciences, teacher education, and agriculture.
- OER CommonsOERs contributed by educational institutions, non-profit organizations, museums, libraries, non-governmental organizations, and government agencies. All subject areas, types, and levels.
- Open DOAR (Directory of Open Access Repositories)Centre for Research Communications, UK
- Open MichiganMostly OER content, some free, created by faculty from the University of Michigan. All topics, levels, and types.
- PBS Learning MediaFormerly PBS Teacher Source.
- Teaching CommonsOERs from colleges and universities, curated by librarians. All types, levels, and topics.
- VideoLectures.netVideoLectures.net is a free, open access, creative commons licensed repository
- WikiversityWikimedia Foundation
- Wisc-OnlineWisconsin Technical College System. Granular learning objects on all topics, created by University of Wisconsin faculty.
- YouTube #EducationUniversity-sponsored videos & channels on YouTube. Some of these works are copyrighted. Others are Open Educational Resources.
