How To Use Ebook Central

• Navigate to eBook Central through Empire's Library.

• Search for the book you need using the search bar.

• Click on the book title to open the book’s landing page.

• In the Table of Contents in the middle of the screen, scroll down and find the chapter you want.

• Next to the chapter title, click “Download PDF”. 

• Keep in mind: chapter downloads are usually limited to a certain number of pages due to copyright. 

• Navigate to the chapter using the Table of Contents.

• Click “Read Online” for that chapter.

• While viewing the chapter, click the Share Link icon (or chain link icon) at the top of the reader window.

• Copy the permalink provided.

  - This link will take others directly to the main page, you can note the chapter title for easier reference.  

If you do not want to read your ebook online, you will sometimes have two other options.

Download the full ebook (often for 21 days - this option is not available for some titles)

Click the blue "Download Book" button in the lower left of the book's landing page. 

1. A pop-up will appear and ask you about the length of the loan. Select your preferred date range from the provided options. 
2. Then it will ask you to download the Ebook Central Reader App, which is free software. You can download it on a PC, Mac, iOS, or Android device and can have it on up to 6 devices. Select your operating system to download. After the app installs, you will be asked to provide the 7-digit code from Ebook Central to confirm your account. 
3. Any books you have asked to download will appear in the Ebook Central Reader App under "My Books."  
4. Select the book(s) you want to download by clicking Download on the ebook. 
5. Once the download is complete, you will see the option to select "Read" and can read the entire ebook on your device for the loan time frame you selected when you started the download process. 
6. When done with an ebook, you can select "Remove Download" from the 3 dots "More Options" menu on the ebook listing on your "My Books" screen. 
   

Print PDF chapter

To print part of the ebook (usually a single chapter), click the "Download PDF Chapter" link in the middle of the book's landing page. This will take you to the book's Table of Contents, where you can click the "Download PDF" link to the right of the chapter you want.

A dialogue box will pop up confirming the chapter is ready for download. Click the Download button. More help for downloading.

Once you've done that, you can open it with Adobe Reader (free software.) Then you can save it wherever you want, email it or print a paper copy.
