How To Use Ebook Central: How to Locate your Textbook if the Bookstore says it's in the Library

If you see the following text (inside the yellow highlighted box in the screen capture below) on the University Bookstore for any of your required course materials, use the steps below to locate and use that ebook.

Screen capture of a University Bookstore page hsowing a required course text that is available in the library. Highlighted text says "This book is available to read for free through the SUNY Empire Library. Please visit https://www.sunyempire.edu/library/ to find the link to access"

Quick tips:

  • While you can download most titles for a limited time period, you need to do so by installing the Adobe Digital Editions software to a desktop or laptop computer provided by the system. You will not be able to access these e-textbooks via a Kindle. More details on supported platforms
  • The page numbers listed within the page display (these usually reflect the numbers from the print version) do not usually correspond to the page numbers within the EBook Central system (for example, those displayed above the page display), so if an assignment refers to specific page numbers, make sure you are using the correct ones (if unclear, ask your instructor).
