How To Use the Science Direct Database: Refining Your Search

Refine Results is located just beneath Search Within Results, and is on the left side of your search results list. 

Types of filters:

• Article Type (journal, book, reference work, news). 
• Publication title
• Year
• Languages
• Subject area
• Access type (open access & open archive)

Once you check off a box the search automatically limits based on those parameters. 

Recommended Articles is found to the right of the article within the article information page.

Related articles is a useful feature that brings up articles that should be on the same topic because either:

• they cited the original article
• the original article cited them
