Library Accessibility: Home

Looking for library database accessibility information for SUNY Empire State College? VPATs? Screenreader instructions? Contacts to get a PDF converted or a video captioned? Here you go!

Understanding Online Library Resources

  • The SUNY Empire Online Library comprises both freely available Web resources and paid subscription collections. Most of our subscription resources are provided by a handful of library vendors.
  • In this guide, you will find links to the accessibility help pages for those vendors to help users navigate, search, and use screen readers with these resources.
  • When searching in the Online Library, note the name of the database or collection's vendor, usually near the top of the page. Then, visit the vendor's accessibility help guide linked on the "Problems? Who to contact..." tab.

SUNY Empire accessibility support

For course resources:

Whether you are faculty, staff, or student, if there is an assigned course material that poses an accessibility concern, contact the Office of Accessibility Services at Disability.Services@sunyempire.edu. Requests for accommodations should be submitted as early as possible to allow for sufficient planning. If you have questions, please visit the Accessibility Resources and Services website.

For library materials not found within a course

Whether you are faculty, staff, or student, if you are searching in the library and encounter materials that are not accessible, please contact the database vendor. You will find their accessibility contact information (either an email address or a web form) on the "Problems? Who to contact" tab.

If that does not work, please contact Ask A Librarian.
