This is a self-paced tutorial for faculty and staff to learn about Open Educational Resources - what they are, how to find and evaluate them, how to adapt and create them, and how to handle the copyright and technical implications.

Creating OER

Learning Objectives

Once you've completed this module, you will be able to:

  • Identify opportunities to incorporate OERs into teaching and learning
  • Use a variety of appropriate technologies to use to create OERs and adapt existing ones
  • Create Educational Resources that are Open not only in terms of their Creative Commons license but also in terms of having a source file available in a readily editable format
  • Create OERs that are accessible to educators and learners with disabilities; meet high standards for instructional design and usability; and are usable or adaptable in mobile-only, low-RAM, and low-bandwidth environments, and adapt existing OERs to meet those standards
