Business, Management & Economics: Harvard Business Review

Information sources and search tools for researching accounting, economics, company information, human resources management, industry information, and information about doing business in other countries.

HBR Case Studies

Harvard Business Review case studies are not available through the SUNY Empire Online Library.

They may be purchased individually at the link provided.

The library does have access to case studies from other sources. For more information on that, go to the Case Studies tab of this guide.

Accessing HBR articles

Harvard Business Review has required databases to turn off direct linking to its articles. That means that if you need to find a certain article in Harvard Business Review, there is no way to just click a link and go directly to it. If you want to share the article with someone else, there is no way to give them a link to it - you can only tell them how to find it themself.

How to find Harvard Business Review articles:

  1. Go to the library web site
  2. Click Article Databases
  3. Scroll down the alphabetical list and click Business Source Complete
  4. Use the search box to search for the title of your article in quotation marks
  5. Your article will appear in the search results list
  6. Click on the PDF Full-text icon to view the article itself

Many HBR articles have use restrictions

Harvard Business Review disables printing, copying, and pasting for a randomly selected 500 of its articles at a time.

An unfortunate side effect is screenreaders do not work with restricted articles. Please contact EBSCOhost support at accessibility@ebsco.com

Because of that accessibility issue, faculty should avoid assigning Harvard Business Review articles as required readings if possible. If necessary, faculty should license the individual piece of content to be embedded directly in the course.
