This is a self-paced, non-credit course that covers research skills, critical thinking, media and internet literacy, and understanding the complexities of the modern information environment (including libraries.)

Portfolio Activity for Evaluating Information Sources

Use this rubric to evaluate the information sources you found in earlier portfolio activities.

Here are the kinds of information sources you need to use:

  • a reference source
  • web page/site
  • electronic/online article
  • ebook
  • print article
  • print book
  • a multimedia item
  • five other information sources 

Here is the format you should use for this assignment:

  • Title of information source
  • URL or permalink of information source (or else just say it is a print source)
  • For each criterion (row) in the rubric, the score that you have given the information source. For example, "Timeliness/Currency: 2 points."
