Entering or creating a function in Maple is a basic skill to learn early on. When first starting to learn Maple, users often struggle with using the correct syntax. Note that Maple is a programming language and there is a need to write commands in the correct format (syntax). In math, we would write f(x) = 3x + 5 to describe a particular function that is a line with slope of 3 and y-intercept of 5. In math, we would then write f(0) to evaluate the function f when x = 0.
